Just a quick review of the XT4 will show it a very well rounded and refined Luxury SUV. With a great value as far as bang for your dollar goes, the XT4 is an impressive addition to Cadillacs 2020 lineup.
For both longtime fans and driving purists, this vehicle offers a strong engine and comfortable ride. With a powerful turbocharged base engine boasting 237 horsepower and 258 pounds/feet torque, this little rocket has a lot of gusto and take off power. This coupled with a decent fuel economy of 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway make for an efficient and strong competitor to the others in its class such as the Jaguar-E Pace.
The small and agile XT4 finds itself very capable in crowded streets or places where maneuverability is prioritized. Its small and sleek frame lend immensely to its light and easy steering. This is a vehicle that prefers fine and comfy riding over the athleticism of sportier classes.
One blemish on the very competitive drivability of the model is a touchy and unrefined braking system many critics are finding. For example, it’s been noted the brakes are not as responsive as most reviewers would like. The Cadillac XT4 is the first from the manufacturer to employ the electro-hydraulic braking system.
Not to say the model isn’t without an abundance of safety options and features amongst all different editions and packages. Offering the consumer a healthy variety to build from. Including blind spot monitoring, parking sensors and assistance, and intuitive cameras and warning tools.
However, as of yet, neither J.D. Power nor the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration have published estimates or ratings. So neither crash safety or general reliability will be noted here.
Now as far as Luxury model SUVs go, the Interior quality of the XT4 is about what consumers expect from entry level in the class. Sleek, stylish and modern cabin design remains on the simpler side of style without compromising its quality.
Coupled with quality, if not simple interior, the XT4 boasts an above average amount of cargo space for its class. A whopping 48.9mcubic feet (with the rear seats down) this is a nice touch for the model, nudging it ahead of more confined competitors.
A final look at the interior will lead you to a buggy, but quickly improving infotainment management. Something that wasn’t initially favored in the XT4 model, but is fast improving with a host of features and refinement.
Overall, the Cadillac XT4 is an impressively well-rounded vehicle with and average-for-class price tag ($35,000) but much more bang for the buck value than some of its close rivals. Definitely a good consideration and a strong competitor for those looking in the rangy Luxury/Crossover classes.
